Section 23
Ust Tschorna – Kvasy – Hoverla – Rachiw (117 km)

From Ust Tschorna (Königsfeld) via Sydovets summits and mountain range Tschornahora to Rachiw

The European primeval forest route runs via the summits of the Sydovets mountains from the village Ust Tschorna to village Kvasy, well-known by hiking people. In Kvasy you follow the forest route climbing the black mountains of Tschornohora, first up to the peak Petros (2.020 m) and next up to the peak Hoverla, the highest mountain of the Ukraine (2.061 m). Beside the way to the Hoverla you find much information about the virgin forests and the special vegetation of this area. The Carpathian Biosphere Reserve created a hiking trail for tourists interested in nature and ecology. The virgin beech forests at the southside of the Tschornohora mountains belong to the UNESCO world heritage of nature. This section of the forest route finishes in the city of Rachiw, a regional centre situated at the confluence of the Black and White Theiss river.
