Section 6
Zerbst – Stolberg (Harz) (192 km)

From Zerbst along the Luther trail Saxony-Anhalt crossing the Elbe river and through the Saale valley to the Harz mountains and the old town Stolberg.

Starting in the city of Zerbst you hike through Zerbst county to the Elbe river. Nearby Aken you cross the river by ferry boat. Westwards nearby the city of Bernburg the Saale valley is reached. Following th Saale river southwards, affecting some riverside woodlands, Wetin gets arrived. The European primeval forest route runs from Wetin through the valley of Salza into Mansfeld county. This county is rich in lakes as residue of former ore mining. Passing the city of Martin Luther: Eilsleben the hiking trail leads to the Harz mountains and there to the small town Stolberg characterized by half-timbered houses.
