From Stolberg/Harz to Sondershausen along the Barbarossa route to Mühlhausen and to Heyerode
The forest route starts in Stolberg/Harz and follows the Luther trail Thuringia some kilometres to Stempeda, here veering to the nature reserve Alter Stolberg. The trail leads to the city of Heringen, passes the hills of the Hainleite and meets the long distance trail Barbarossa route X8 in the city of Sondershausen, nearby the train station. Across the Frauenberg hill in Sondershausen you hike along the Barbarossa route up to the city of Mühlhausen. Not far away, in Heyerode, you leave the Barbarossa route and change to the pilgrim route Via Porta.
